SENER participates at FIDAE 2018 as a supplier of components and equipment for mechanical systems in Space and Defense22/03/2018 (Chile)
The engineering and technology group SENER participates for another year at FIDAE, the International Air and Space Fair which will take place in Santiago de Chile between the 3rd and 8th April. According to the organization, it is the most important aerospace, defense and security exhibition in Latin America, and the main business platform in the region.
SENER will showcase its capacities in Space and Defense at its own stand, where for more than 50 years it has supplied equipment, system integration and engineering services to the market and is the main contractor of comprehensive programs. Specifically, SENER will showcase electromechanical systems for Space and Defense at FIDAE.
In Space, models can be seen of rotary actuators, rotary joints, from both band X and band K, for use in commercial satellites and telecommunications. SENER began its aerospace adventure developing structural mechanisms and components, which is why it brings to the commercial satellites and telecommunications market, its experience in the design, manufacture, verification and final integration of electromechanical components and systems critical for Space, with 100 % reliability.
Additionally, it will exhibit electromechanical systems for Defense such as those that SENER carries out for Meteor and Taurus KEPD350 missile programs. In this regard, SENER is a European center of excellence in missiles, with more than 25 years of experience in the design, development, production, integration, testing and logistical support of actuation and control systems, and participates in major European programs.
Similarly, the company will offer information on its capacities in the life extension of military helicopters, with the life extension program of seven AB-212 helicopters belonging to the Spanish Navy that SENER is completing successfully. Recently, SENER achieved a technical certification for this program, as well as the 2017 Avion Revue Award for Excellence in Helicopters.
SENER has had a branch in Chile since 2013, from where it has coordinated aerospace projects, specifically in astronomy. It was involved in the telescopes of the VISTA and VTL, both at the Cerro Paranal observatory, as well as in the ELT Extremelly Large Telescope, in Cerro Armazones, and the ALMA radio telescopes located in the Atacama Desert. Besides, the company is currently involved in civil infrastructures, where it is carrying out works including: the optimization engineering and the detailed design of protection works, dredging and complementary work of the Outer Port (large-scale port, PGE in its Spanish acronym), in the Port of San Antonio, 100 km from Santiago de Chile; and several projects for the Santiago de Chile metro (lines 1, 3, 5 and 6). Also in Marine, with the refurbishment and extension of the Talcahuano shipyard, as well as the floating dock for ASMAR (Astilleros y Maestranzas de la Armada) and contracts with shipyards and design offices for the use of SENER’s FORAN System , a software for the design and construction of vessels and marine structures. SENER also takes part in Renewables, Power, Oil & Gas projects in Chile, mainly in the gas sector, and it has also presented bids in solar thermal power.
